It seemed like neck and neck, but in the end it wasn't that close. Barack Obama won four more years over Mitt Romney with 303 electoral votes. Statistics say that he was led by 11 percentage points among women. And younger voters who were less than 45 years old were also swayed by Obama. He also got unanimous support from the immigrants, largely the Hispanic population.
Credit goes to the campaign. “The Democratic candidate of "hope and change" beat the big business Republican in the trenches, in one state after another.” But sometimes when there is dilemma choosing between the incumbent and the challenger, in the end people will always go for the current office holder. Some may relate to capitalistic thought. For example, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in tandem with the republicans and so is for capitalism. But most of them when they see the harshness of republicans towards the undocumented immigrants, they say its heart wrenching and Democrats could bank on it. Also, the cautiously avoided climatic topics were made causa sine qua non by the super storm Sandy.
Then was the magic of “Bubba”, Bill Clinton. He not only brought the crowd alive by his charismatic speech but also made some serious clarification on wonky policy issues.
So in the end, the President continues to be in office. But tough economic conditions will always saddle on anyone in the throne. And what Mr. Boehner told was something everyone would agree. “We’re ready to be led, not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans.”
