Beauty is not skin deep.

Whenever I read about achievers in Fortune 500 companies, educational sector, sports and military or may be even politics, I see that very few women are able to make it to the top ladder. But then I thought, that does not mean that all men are more talented than women. Talent can lie anywhere and everywhere regardless of age, region or gender.

Recently Wall street journal discussed about the same issue. They came up with the conclusion that women take breaks in their career, sometimes they even switch to non-aggressive one that demands lesser time and energy as they decide to devote their time to child upbringing and family in general. That sounded convincing to me.

But sometimes I see women of certain backgrounds being obsessed with external appearance. It is good be in a regime that keeps our body fit and healthy. But some ridiculous activities like applying cosmetics or bleach every day to whiten the skin alarm me. One should definitely look presentable. Even men apply moisturizers, hair products etc. But most of them don't spend bizarre amount of time in front of the mirror as some women do. The point is beauty is not skin deep. Although everyone knows this saying, some simply don't get it. The thumb rule should be women must take a quick comparative analysis with their men at home in regards to spending their time on grooming.

To cite an example, when we say "KiranBedi" we immediately think of her as the first female officer in Indian police service. There are lot other women in this world who are also known for their specific talent and not just beautiful Barbie dolls. In recent times Malala Yousafzai has touched many of our hearts.

I just hope that the way we bombast men for their talent, women should also be known for her inner beauty and not just for her “goody-goody” looks. To attain this level, women should also put more effort in spending their time on developing their personality as whole. And it's time now, true feminism lies in treating women, as productive and as efficient as men.
