"IHI" A New Concept For The Sake Of Unity & Humanity!

India is swiftly developing in various front. The GDP is growing and is becoming a major target for foreign investments. These are the things I have always felt and read about India, world's largest democratic country. 

I agree that some levels of inequality and poverty are always seen across the nation, but what I saw today was absolutely shocking. Slavery, racism and violation of rights of people are one of the few words that could describe the situation. Yes I meant slavery, racism and to many extent horrendous exploitation and I am not talking about injustice happened centuries ago. As on today, “An estimated 3,000 of these children are slave children in the rock quarries of Andhra Pradesh, “sold” by their parents as payments for high interest debts.These boys and girls, 6-18 years of age, are members of the “untouchable” caste and have never attended school.” according to Set Free Alliance a non profit organization operated in India headed by Mr. David Moorehead originally from United States.This noble man found his calling in ministry to India who left behind his career in mortgage banking. He is being strongly supported by Pastor Praveen and Sylom Pastor’s League, a non profit organization found in the year 1969.  And in 2011, Set Free Alliance’s backbone Pastor Praveen  received the Andhra Pradesh "Best Social Worker & Community Development" award.

It was heartwarming to see hundreds of children being set free from abuse and slavery and being provided with basic necessities along with unconditional love. But it also left me heartbroken when I came to know that they live in a crowded or less than ideal rented homes with just two times of food. And I have never seen this much of gratitude,”In comparison to life in the quarries or on the streets, the children are delighted.” according to the report published at http://setfreealliance.org/The-Approach.aspx.

After hearing this I honestly felt that we are bound to be grateful for all the gifts we enjoy. And it is our duty to lend a helping hand wherever and whenever possible. And truly speaking, Indians are extremely qualified and are in good position across the world. Time to do something for the people truly in need. And I am more than 100% confident that such awful situations can be totally eradicated if Indians across the world join hands. 

“Indians helping Indians” or “IHI” should be our mantra to help rescue innocent children from some of the rock quarries in Andhra Pradesh. It is very simple to donate online, your simple ice cream or say couple of restaurant bill amount can take care of all the expenses of a child. And with no other overheads your every penny will be directed to the child’s well being.

But I would say that true support would be to provide a long term solution for Set Free Alliance. For that we should spread the word, take them to corporate and media level. Every company has its division of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), make them take initiative for this noble cause. Getting all the media attention would make those culprits who maltreat children come under the eyes of law. 

So go ahead, spread the word, the mass of "Indians helping Indians" or "IHI" should use the power of media and technology to win over evil and do good.
