Perfection has always been one of the most sought after goals by many of us. But in today's business world speed with accuracy is appreciated.
Let's take an example of prioritizing of tasks. Instead of ranking tasks in a specific order of priority, assign them into broad buckets saying "must do" , "should do" and "nice to do". Similarly, instead of giving them specific time period assign them simply as has to be done "now" , " soon" or "in the future".
This kind of approach is like a cut short as we would not be wasting our time devising different strategies for different tasks. Instead we will be able to club together various tasks of similar importance and/or urgency and devise one common strategy for the category.
There is a saying by Bob Frisch, " To get better decision, get a little fuzzy". He cites a real life example of working pattern of washing machines. He says washing machines does not go for specific temperature when we choose warm, hot or cold water option. Say if we choose warm water option then the water is hotter than the cold and colder than the hot option that's it.
So chop off those over detailed approach and take a mass strategic approach to tackle today's plethora of projects and tasks.
